I enjoyed reading this. I think you should mention that Johns Hopkins gave $7 mil of his $8 mil fortune “back” to the city and state when he died. Also, the B&O was not only a major employer in Maryland but it provided the infrastructural backbone that enabled Baltimore to thrive as a commercial city.
